Finished my last day at work yesterday. Did the rounds of farewells: company cafeteria lunch; still the best kimchi I’ve ever had (the Romans had bread and circuses, my company has kimchi and company news channel); debriefing with the newish VP; clearing my mostly empty desk, there was a company drive to have empty desks in an attempt to show how clean and efficient we are but it reminded me of Albert Einstein’s quote,
“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?”
A very small part of me feels a little like the 10th Doctor. The video below will get you in the feels.
…but a much larger part of me feels like George Michael’s Freedom. This is more fitting than Braveheart (great movie, but not history). You know, one man leaving a huge conglomerate for something else.
Lyrics (from Metrolyrics)
As the man said, I’d really, really love to stick around but you’ve got to give for what you take. I just hope they understand that sometimes the clothes do not make the man.
Don Draper’s response?
